“The image was taken somewhere between Katherine in the NT and Kununurra in WA in November 2018. It was shot by panning from right to left from the passenger seat of our car driving at around 120KPH. The parallax effect gives the image the vortex appearance, because the areas closer to the camera appear to move faster than those further away. The settings were: 1/8th sec., 23mm focal length, f9.5, ISO 100. The only post processing was the conversion to B&W and increasing the contrast to accentuate the swirl.”
