Guest Speaker - Jeff Moorfoot
This month’s guest speaker was Jeff Moorfoot, and the topic he spoke on was “Making Pictures About Things”.
During his life as a professional photographer, Jeff has received a large number of awards and honours, held solo and group exhibitions, judged competitions, and curated exhibitions. He has also directed photographic festivals, and is the founder of The Ballarat International Foto Biennale.
The audience were treated to a viewing of two of Jeff’s amazing fine art photography series’ – Parsimony and Revenge of the Haiku Master 2019. Parsimony is a reworking of a fascinating 2012 series of photos of his homegrown parsnips. The Revenge of the Haiku Master 2019 is a series of still lifes that Jeff began in 1993 and completed in 2006. The retouched 2019 series comprises seventeen incredible images, to match the seventeen syllables of the haiku (a short form of Japanese poetry).
It was a great night, and we appreciated Jeff travelling to come and talk to the Club members.
